Job summary

ColonialWebb is seeking a Superintendent to oversee change-outs, retrofits and installations on complex projects in Virginia. You will supervise day-to-day work of mechanics, apprentices and helpers, ensuring activities align with contract requirements and budget objectives.

The role requires extensive HVAC and plumbing knowledge, OSHA 30 training, and strong leadership. English and Spanish skills are preferred, with a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for career growth.

Qualifications

• Extensive supervisory experience on mechanical construction projects.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC and plumbing systems and related codes.
• OSHA 30-hour certification and safety compliance experience.

Responsibilities

• Inspect work in process and completed work for conformance to specs.
• Supervise and coordinate activities of assigned workers.
• Study schedules and estimate worker-hour requirements.
• Interpret blueprints and job orders for installation areas.
• Review shop drawings and spools for timely field installation.
• Coach teammates to work safely and productively.
• Monitor resources and inventory; control costs.
• Review weekly cost reports and identify savings opportunities.

ColonialWebb is looking to hire a Superintendent. The primary responsibility of the Superintendent is to oversee change-outs, retrofits, and installations for complex projects. This responsibility includes supervising day to day work activities of other mechanics, apprentices, and helpers. The Superintendent is responsible for ensuring that all services are performed in accordance with applicable contractual agreements and company budget objectives.

A day in the life:

• Inspect work in process and completed work to ensure conformance to specifications
• Supervise and coordinate activities of assigned trade/craft workers
• Study schedules and estimate worker-hour requirements for successful project completion
• Interpret specifications, blueprints, and job orders as needed for area of installation
• Review and release ColonialWebb Shop Drawings and Spool Drawings for timely field installation
• Teach, coach and guide teammates to ensure that they work safely and productively
• Ensure appropriate teammates are participating in hazard reporting; audit 5 x 5s and pre-task plans for compliance; hold teammates accountable for these actions
• Monitor and control manpower and tools to ensure efficient and effective use of resources and provide oversight of inventory activities
• Review weekly report of costs incurred; identify possible cost-saving opportunities

You should have:

• At least 5 years' industry experience, including supervisory experience
• Extensive knowledge of International Codes and general HVAC and plumbing systems
• OSHA 30-hour certification and knowledge of OSHA safety regulations
• Bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred not required)
• Extensive experience in handling personnel issues
• Excellent mechanical, administrative and analytical skills
• Ability to use current technology (i.e., computer, tablet, smartphone, Microsoft Teams, Procore, BIM)
