Job description

Tekton Building Solutions Group (BSG) is seeking a high-energy, hands-on Superintendent to lead field operations for this self-perform business unit and be responsible for the execution of commercial interior improvements, tenant renovations, and specialty building systems among other scopes.

This role requires a versatile leader who can seamlessly pivot between the responsibilities of a Self-Perform Leader (directly recruiting, hiring and managing skilled internal craft towards established productivity crews) and General Contractor Superintendent (managing site logistics, overall safety, and specialty subcontractors) since the role Tekton serves is job dependent. This individual will be the primary driver of project execution, responsible for ensuring that Tekton projects are delivered with the craftsmanship and professionalism of a specialty trade contractor.

Responsibilities
Integrated Field Leadership
  • Implement a culture of safety and quality among Tekton employees and trade contractors, including conducting regular safety inspections to ensure all work conditions are in compliance with company, contract, and government regulations.
  • Ensure the craft employees possess the necessary skillset to be successful for the scopes of work being completed.
  • Monitor progress vs. budget, review weekly labor hours/quantities with management, and adjust resources to maintain efficiency.
  • Lead the timely procurement of materials and tools, maintain delivery logs and ensure crews have the resources needed for daily production.
  • Know the contract terms and scope of work to protect the company from unplanned costs.
  • Produce detailed look-aheads and manage site logistics across multiple active jobs, ensuring seamless coordination between Tekton teams and trade partners.
  • Oversee daily report submissions (conditions, workforce, and progress) and time entry and reporting from crews.
Division Growth & Strategy
  • Provide field-based feedback on production and labor needs for upcoming bids; develop schedules for scope-of-work and crew flows.
  • Lead growth and hiring of craft employees. Interview potential candidates, assess craft skillsets, and identify training opportunities for crew improvement and retention.
Basic Qualifications
  • 7+ years of construction experience with a general contractor or specialty subcontractor experience.
  • Deep knowledge and experience installing Divisions 6 (Rough Carpentry), 8, (Doors, Frames, & Hardware), 9 (Gypsum Board Assemblies, flooring, and, painting), 10 (Miscellaneous installations and accessories), 13 (HAC and Racking in Data Center sectors);
  • Proficient in reading blueprints and developing detailed schedules using software
  • Proven ability to manage job site safety, lead internal craft labor, and maintain professional relationships with clients and architects.
  • Resourceful in evolving environments, highly organized, and driven.
  • Strong work ethic, leadership, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Alignment to our 3 Keys to Success: Enthusiasm & Drive, Delivery & Performance, and Learn & Grow.
The Physical Side of the Role

You will work in both an office setting and on active construction sites. In the office, you should be comfortable in a professional setting and with prolonged periods of focused work, whether it's collaborating with colleagues, analyzing data, or developing strategies. On the jobsite, you can expect to be on your feet frequently, navigating active job sites with uneven terrain, stairs, ladders, and hoists. The work is physically demanding and requires a full range of motion, including bending, kneeling, and reaching. You’ll need to be comfortable lifting and carrying materials up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds.

Your Work Environment

You will spend time, both in an office setting workspace and on active construction site visits. This means being adaptable to all kinds of environments. These environments are naturally more dynamic and can include exposure to outdoor weather conditions, louder noise, and moving equipment. Your safety is our top priority, and you'll be expected to follow Tekton's safety policies and procedures, and all applicable laws, at all locations.

Our High-Performing Culture

This is a demanding, high-performance environment. We are looking for candidates who are energized by challenge, thrive under pressure, and are prepared to do what it takes to achieve exceptional results. Success in this role requires significant commitment, including flexibility to work extended hours, especially during critical project phases or client deadlines. Beyond regular working hours, there will be occasions where business needs require your attention, particularly for time-sensitive matters or emergencies. You are expected to monitor and respond to communications (phone calls, emails, text messages) as required to address these situations effectively. Your ability to manage these expectations and be responsive when critical issues arise is key to your success in this role and our collective success as a team.

A Drug Free Workplace

Tekton promotes a drug free workplace. A pre-employment drug “fitness for duty” screening is required, and the company conducts random quarterly drug “fitness for duty” tests.

Clark offers a total compensation package that includes base salary, bonus potential, and a comprehensive benefits package including health/dental/vision benefits, paid time off, retirement/401k, and Company Contribution plan. Additional benefits include life insurance, commuter benefit, short & long term disability, fitness reimbursement, FSA, tuition reimbursement, back-up daycare, tutoring & family support benefits, EAP/Work-Life assistance, and a holiday contribution program. For this role the base salary range is $85,000 - 185,000. Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. Base pay is one part of the Total Compensation Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work.
