We are actively seeking a Superintendent to join our growing Columbia team as a long-term team member, committed to building our presence in the region. Summary/Objective

Promotes the company mission statement by joining the Project Manager as a team who work together to create a safe work environment, build a quality project, and keep projects on schedule while earning a fair and reasonable profit.

Essential Functions
  1. Act as the main contact for the project at the jobsite.
  2. Oversee the project to make all critical field decisions in collaboration with the Project Manager.
  3. Ensure proper project decisions with support and input from PM, including scheduling, delivery, logistics, staging, phasing, quality control, and staffing levels.
  4. Communicate with Owner and Architect/Engineer regarding field issues, understanding issues, and resolving them appropriately.
  5. Lead Harper BIG 6 initiatives: Safety/SOAR, Core, Procurement/Scheduling, Pre-Install meetings, Exterior skin systems meetings, Utility strike prevention plan.
  6. Oversee the Project Safety Requirements, develop safety pre-planning, coordinate with Safety Manager, conduct weekly Toolbox Talks, safety inspections, and incident investigations.
  7. Manage material and equipment delivery requirements, create and update schedules, and lead project QAQC efforts.
  8. Coordinate all trade partners, develop project logistics, schedules, and recovery strategies.
  9. Supervise field staff development and manage timesheets, reports, and equipment.
  10. Have working knowledge of local building and ADA codes, inspections, and punch list execution.
  11. Assist in estimating and preconstruction activities, utilize Procore effectively, and understand project documentation.

  • Ability to make decisions, be flexible, detail-oriented, and solve complex issues.
  • Build and maintain relationships, and communicate project plans clearly.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervise field staff including Assistant Superintendents, Foremen, Field Engineers, Interns, and contribute to developing Project Managers.

Work Environment

Exposure to construction site conditions including weather, mechanical parts, heights, fumes, and noise.

Physical Demands

Must perform physical tasks such as walking, climbing, bending, lifting, and inspecting construction activities.

Travel Requirements

Travel to multiple job sites and offices, with minimal overnight travel. Valid driver’s license required.

Education & Experience
  • Minimum 10 years of supervision experience, including 5+ years as a Superintendent.
  • Ability to understand and create project schedules, resolve design conflicts, and lead coordination meetings.
  • Experience with BIM, OSHA 30 certification, and a proven safety record.
  • Experience building from the ground up on multiple projects.
  • Ability to communicate with city and utility officials, and a thorough understanding of plans, specs, and general conditions.
