Job summary

Zachry Construction Corporation is seeking a Construction Superintendent to lead field operations on heavy civil projects such as highways, bridges, and major roadworks. You will supervise field foremen and coordinate with engineers to ensure safe, on-time delivery.

This role offers a strong compensation package with a base salary range of $140,000 to $190,000 per year, plus comprehensive benefits and growth opportunities. Relocation may be required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a superintendent on heavy highway, road, or bridge construction projects.
• Ability to read and interpret heavy civil construction drawings and specifications.
• Experience managing medium to large projects ($10M+).
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel/Word).

Position Summary

The Construction Superintendent is a member of the heavy civil operations team responsible for planning and leading field operations to meet project expectations and production requirements. This position supervises field foremen and collaborates with field engineering staff and other project personnel to ensure the successful delivery of heavy highway, road, and bridge projects.

What You'll Do

• Supervise heavy highway, road, and bridge construction projects to ensure compliance with project specifications.


• Schedule and direct work crews and foremen to achieve production goals.


• Prepare work plans, hazard analyses, and safety assessments for assigned activities.


• Monitor work progress, quality, and adherence to safety and productivity standards.


• Manage and track project costs and resources, including equipment and subcontractors.

What We're Looking For

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a superintendent on heavy highway, road, or bridge construction projects


• Experience managing medium to large projects ($10M+ required)


• Strong ability to read and interpret heavy civil construction drawings and specifications


• Knowledge of heavy civil construction and engineering principles and practices


• Strong leadership, problem-solving, and analytical skills


• Excellent organization and time management skills


• Strong prioritization and attention to detail


• Proficiency in Microsoft programs such as Excel and Word


• Excellent verbal and written communication skills


• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with a team


• Must be capable, licensed, and approved to drive a company pick-up truck or similar vehicle to work sites, offices, and other locations as required


• Must be able to climb up and down ladders and scaffolding to gain access to work and walk on uneven surfaces throughout construction sites
