Job summary

Sauer Construction seeks a seasoned Superintendent to lead daily field operations on federal DoD projects in Virginia. You will coordinate subcontractors, ensure quality control, maintain safety, manage schedules, and handle on-site logistics while representing Sauer professionally.

Ideal candidates have extensive DoD project experience, OSHA 30 certification, and proficiency with Primavera and MS Office. This role requires strong leadership and clear communication with government stakeholders

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or related field.
• 10+ years of Quality Control Manager experience on federal construction projects.
• 5+ years DoD project experience on projects larger than $15M.
• Substantial superintendent experience on DoD projects.
• OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification.
• Proficiency with Primavera scheduling software and Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Strong leadership, communication, scheduling, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
• Lean construction and Army Corps of Engineers experience preferred.

Essential Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or a related field.
• At least 10 years of Quality Control Manager experience on federal construction projects.
• At least 5 years of DOD project experiences on projects larger than 15 million.
• Substantial superintendent experience on Department of Defense projects.
• Working knowledge of Department of Defense and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers procedures and protocols.
• OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification.
• Proficiency with Primavera scheduling software and Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Strong leadership, communication, scheduling, coordination, and problem‑solving skills.
• U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Lean construction experience are preferred.

Physical Requirements

This position requires prolonged standing and walking, as well as stooping, bending, climbing ladders, scaffolding, and stairs, and operating trucks or construction equipment. The employee must be able to push, pull, lift, and carry objects frequently and work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, wind, and rain. Comprehensive knowledge of construction processes and industry practices, along with proven leadership and supervisory capability, is required.
