Position Overview
The Superintendent is responsible for the day-to-day field leadership and successful execution of commercial construction projects, with a particular emphasis on healthcare and HCAI-regulated environments. This role is responsible for managing subcontractors, schedules, inspections, safety, quality control, site logistics, and field coordination while maintaining Brascia Builders’ standards for professionalism, accountability, and client service.
The ideal candidate has significant experience working in active healthcare facilities and understands HCAI inspection procedures, infection-control requirements, shutdowns, interim life-safety measures, phasing, and the unique challenges associated with construction in occupied healthcare environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Site Leadership & Daily Operations: Direct all daily jobsite activities and subcontractor operations while maintaining project schedule, quality, safety, cleanliness, and site organization.
- HCAI Coordination: Coordinate construction activities and inspections with HCAI, the Inspector of Record, Architects, Engineers, facility representatives, and other regulatory stakeholders.
- Schedule Management: Develop and maintain detailed short-term schedules and 3-week look-ahead plans. Coordinate manpower, inspections, deliveries, shutdowns, and subcontractor sequencing.
- Healthcare Construction: Manage construction activities in occupied healthcare environments, including infection control, ICRA requirements, ILSM requirements, dust and noise containment, shutdowns, phasing, temporary protection, and facility access.
- Inspections: Proactively coordinate required inspections and ensure work is complete and ready prior to inspection. Track corrections and drive timely resolution of inspection items.
- Quality Control: Review plans, specifications, submittals, RFIs, and approved changes to ensure work is installed correctly and in accordance with project requirements.
- Subcontractor Management: Coordinate and direct subcontractors, identify conflicts and delays, enforce project requirements, and hold trade partners accountable for schedule, quality, safety, and performance.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain complete daily reports, manpower records, progress photographs, inspection records, safety documentation, and other required project records.
- Project Coordination: Work closely with the Project Manager, Project Engineer, and other project team members to identify and resolve field issues before they impact the project.
- Safety & Compliance: Implement and enforce Brascia Builders’ safety program and all project-specific safety requirements.
- Client & Facility Relationships: Maintain professional relationships with Owners, facility personnel, Inspectors, design professionals, subcontractors, and end users.
- Project Closeout: Manage punch-list completion, final inspections, testing and commissioning coordination, turnover, and field-related closeout activities.
- Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned that are reasonably related to the position and the successful completion of company projects.
Qualifications
- Minimum 7+ years of commercial construction field supervision experience.
- Prior HCAI/OSHPD healthcare construction experience is required.
- Demonstrated experience working in active and occupied healthcare facilities strongly preferred.
- Thorough understanding of HCAI inspection processes and healthcare construction requirements.
- Strong knowledge of commercial construction means, methods, sequencing, scheduling, quality control, and subcontractor coordination.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing construction documents.
- Experience coordinating shutdowns, infection-control measures, inspections, and construction activities with healthcare facility operations.
- Proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and construction scheduling tools.
- Strong leadership and problem-solving skills with the ability to make timely field decisions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Salary Range
$110,000 - $160,000 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, HCAI expertise, project experience, and other job-related factors.
