Job summary

Skender seeks an experienced Superintendent to lead field operations, oversee daily construction activities, and ensure safety and quality while collaborating with project management and trade partners.

You will drive plan execution, mentor foremen and engineers, manage budgets, and maintain strong client relations, with a focus on delivering value and high performance across multifamily projects.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in a supervisory capacity in construction or engineering.
• Thorough knowledge of construction, technology, equipment, scheduling, safety, and quality.

Responsibilities

• Lead on-site construction from preconstruction through closeout, ensuring safety, timeliness, and budget adherence.
• Create safety, phasing, and logistics plans; manage costs within project budgets.
• Develop and maintain master schedules and look-ahead plans with PMs and trade partners.

Annual salary range noted above based on experience and qualifications. Employees in this role are also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, up to 10% of their base salary, dependent on both individual performance and company financial results.

What will I do as a Superintendent?

As a Superintendent, you'll be a hands‑on leader and the driving force behind our Field Operations. You’ll oversee the day‑to‑day construction activity, ensuring every phase is executed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards of quality. Working closely with Project Management and field teams, you’ll bring plans to life and build lasting relationships with clients, trade partners, and design teams.

In This Role, You Will

• Lead onsite construction efforts from preconstruction through closeout, ensuring work is completed safely, on time, and within budget
• Create safety, phasing, and logistics plans during Preconstruction and refine them throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring associated costs are incorporated into project budgets
• Develop and maintain the master project schedule and look‑ahead schedules, collaborating closely with Project Management and trade partners to stay on track
• Coordinate subcontractor-procured and owner‑furnished equipment and materials to ensure proper construction sequencing and minimize delays
• Conduct regular site inspections, enforce safety standards, and ensure full compliance with company and client requirements
• Document QA/QC issues identified during the punch list and commissioning process, ensuring prompt resolution and high-quality outcomes
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with owners, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to foster collaboration and trust
• Assist the Project Manager in reviewing and submitting change orders promptly with proper documentation and clear communication
• Establish agendas and lead field‑based meetings, including Foreman Meetings, Daily Huddles, and Subcontractor Coordination Meetings, capturing and distributing key takeaways
• Mentor and guide Project Foremen, Assistant Superintendents, and Field Engineers, ensuring they meet expectations and continue developing their skills
• Attend monthly profit review meetings and collaborate with the Project Management team to monitor progress and maintain cost control

Your educational background & prior experience

• 5 or more years of experience in a supervisory capacity in the construction or engineering field
• Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction, including technology, equipment, methods, scheduling, safety, and quality
• Experience working on multifamily construction projects highly preferred
