Job summary

Peckham Industries Inc. (PII) seeks an experienced Milling/Paving Superintendent to oversee all milling and paving activities on construction sites in the New York region.

Lead crews of operators, laborers, and subcontractors, ensuring projects meet timelines, budgets, and quality standards while upholding safety. The role demands extensive paving and milling knowledge, strong leadership, and the ability to manage safety, equipment, and stakeholders across regional sites.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of relevant construction experience.
• Extensive knowledge of paving, milling, and grading operations.
• Must be able to accept out-of-town work and/or night and occasional weekend work.
• Extensive knowledge of survey and layout.
• Excellent leadership skills, attention to detail, communication, and ability to collaborate.
• Must have the ability to multi-task and make quick and thoughtful decisions in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Authorized to work in the U.S.

• Respect and engage. Act as the primary point of contact for clients, stakeholders, and project managers, providing updates on progress and addressing any concerns.
• Results matter. Identify and resolve issues that may arise during milling and paving operations, implementing corrective actions as needed.
• Measurement. Maintain accurate records of daily operations, including labor hours, material usage, and equipment maintenance.

Overview

Travel

This position requires regional travel. It is anticipated that most of the work will be in the New York region, although a wider geographic reach could be expected.

Work Environment / Physical Demands

This position will be highly mobile and work in a very dynamic environment, depending on the time of year and operational workload. Heavy work includes moving objects up to 50 lbs. or more. This position works on or near moving mechanical parts and loud equipment. Requires the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time as well as lifting, pulling, bending, kneeling, squatting, climbing, walking, reaching, driving, and repetitive motion.
