Role Description

Nance Construction is seeking an experienced Superintendent to oversee day-to-day field operations for commercial construction projects throughout the Charlotte Metro area. This full-time, on-site position plays a critical role in ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

The Superintendent will coordinate subcontractors, manage site logistics, oversee project schedules, and maintain quality and safety standards throughout each phase of construction. This individual will work closely with project managers, field personnel, and trade partners to resolve challenges, monitor progress, and ensure successful project execution.

The ideal candidate is a proactive leader with strong communication skills, extensive commercial construction knowledge, and the ability to manage multiple moving parts in a fast-paced jobsite environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage daily field operations and oversee on-site construction activities.
• Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel to maintain efficient workflows.
• Develop, monitor, and maintain project schedules, sequencing, and site logistics.
• Enforce jobsite safety protocols and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations.
• Oversee quality control to ensure work meets project plans, specifications, and company standards.
• Read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
• Monitor project progress, identify potential delays, and implement solutions to keep projects on schedule.
• Maintain accurate daily reports, site documentation, and project updates.
• Communicate regularly with project managers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders regarding field progress.
• Coordinate inspections, materials, equipment, and manpower requirements.
• Promote a professional, organized, and collaborative jobsite environment.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of commercial construction field experience, preferably in a Superintendent or similar leadership role.
• Strong understanding of commercial construction methods, scheduling, sequencing, and jobsite operations.
• Proven leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans, drawings, and specifications.
• Experience coordinating subcontractors, managing site logistics, and overseeing multiple trades.
• Knowledge of construction scheduling, project documentation, and construction management software.
• Strong understanding of OSHA regulations, jobsite safety requirements, and quality control procedures.
• OSHA-30 certification.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize responsibilities and meet project deadlines.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to job sites throughout the Charlotte Metro area.
• Construction management education or relevant technical training is a plus, but equivalent field experience will be considered.
