Job summary

Hawthorne Executive Search is seeking an experienced Superintendent to lead on-site field operations for interior buildouts and tenant improvements in the Charlotte area. You will oversee schedule, quality, safety, and subcontractor performance across office, restaurant, and retail projects.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in commercial interior construction, strong blueprint-reading skills, and a hands-on, collaborative approach within a small team environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a Superintendent or senior field supervisor on commercial interior / tenant improvement projects.
• Strong experience with office, restaurant, and/or retail buildouts preferred.
• Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical documents.
• OSHA 30 preferred; valid driver’s license required.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment with a small, collaborative team.

Responsibilities

• Manage on-site construction activities for office, restaurant, and retail interior buildouts and renovations.
• Lead and coordinate subcontractors to maintain schedule, quality standards, and job-site safety.
• Interpret construction documents, specifications, and shop drawings; ensure work is installed per plans and codes.
• Conduct daily site walks, track progress, and proactively identify and resolve field issues.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, architects, engineers, owners, and inspectors.
• Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and material deliveries.
• Maintain accurate daily reports, photo documentation, and as-built records.
• Oversee punch list completion and support successful project closeout and certificate of occupancy.
• Enforce company safety policies and maintain a clean, organized job site.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Superintendent to lead day-to-day field operations on our interior buildout and tenant improvement projects. This hands-on role is ideal for a construction professional who thrives in fast-paced commercial interior environments and takes ownership of schedule, quality, safety, and subcontractor performance.

• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment with a small, collaborative team
