Job Summary

The Security Officer I is responsible for patrolling, protecting, and securing all Harris Health System's buildings and grounds, promoting safety and security at all locations. The officer responds to crisis intervention team activations and provides security assistance as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Education: High School Diploma or GED.
2. Licenses & Certifications: Basic Life Support (training must be completed within six months of employment). Valid Texas Driver's License. Must be registered by the Texas Private Security Bureau within 90 days of employment.
3. Communication Skills: Above average verbal communication (heavy public contact), writing, and report skills.
4. Proficiencies: MS Word, PC, typing.
5. Work Schedule: Weekends, flexible hours, overtime, holidays.
6. Other Requirements: E-1 availability during disaster situations. Must understand and communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
7. Equipment Operated: PC-based electronic access control, CCTV, parking systems, handheld radio systems, patrol vehicle.
