Qualifications

• At least 1 year of experience as a cook in an institutional food service setting.
• Experience preparing food in large quantities.
• Reliability and comfort with an early morning schedule.

Responsibilities

• Open the kitchen and start breakfast and morning service on schedule.
• Prepare and serve meals and alternates using standardized recipes for regular and therapeutic diets.
• Use tray line and diet card system; verify food and diet trays per orders and guidelines.
• Check food quality by tasting and ensuring plates look appetizing.
• Maintain correct food temperatures during prep and service; calibrate thermometers; record temperatures.
• Monitor refrigerator/freezer temperatures and keep logs up to date.
• Follow portion control to reduce waste.
• Prepare food for staff, families, visitors, and special events.
• Keep equipment and workspaces clean and safe.
