Youth For Christ International is seeking a Development professional to advance our mission by shaping and executing a comprehensive development plan. The role focuses on donor cultivation, major gifts, and sustaining ministry funding across chapters and sites.

The position entails managing partner relationships, producing external communications, coordinating events, and coaching staff to engage supporters with integrity and faith-based stewardship.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in creating and planning the annual development plan.
  • Develop and manage 40-50 ministry partner relationships.
  • Meet with partners using the 7 Touch philosophy and Major Giving Process.
  • Oversee external communications and branding standards.
  • Coordinate events and legacy giving initiatives.
  • Provide staff coaching and development support.

Job description

TheChief Development Officeexists to advance the mission ofSuncoastYouth for Christ by creating, overseeing and coordinating the execution of the chapter’s comprehensive development strategy.Qualified candidates must have a heart for stewardship ministry, be an organized self-starter, possess strong management and relational skills, and be proficient in both written and verbal communication.

Development Planning
  • Assist the Executive Directorin the creation and planning oftheSYFCannual development plan (Find, Win, Keep, Lift) to resource the following areas:
    • Annual operating fund (Chapter, ministry centers, and ministry sites)
    • Reserve funds
    • Assets
    • Ministry expansion
    • Planned Giving
  • Develop, build, and manage a portfolio ofbetween40-50ministry partner(and prospect)relationshipswith an emphasis on major giving partners
  • Meet individually with existing and prospective ministry partners using the 7 Touch philosophy as a minimum standard of engagement, reinforced by the “Major Giving Process”
  • Ensure that the appropriate care and appreciation is shown with ministry partners
  • Ensure that all staff with development responsibilities are successfully trained andfaithfully engaged in our 7-touch/faithful activity system and strategy.
  • Meetthe goals laid out in the CDO KRA’s document (attached below)
Communication
  • Assist Executive Director with all external communications, including but not limited to:
    • Print materials
    • Themes
    • Oversee the social media, web and electronic communication
    • Overall cohesive communication strategy
  • Oversee and maintain branding standardsin line with Youth for Christ USA
  • Present the mission and vision ofSYFCwith groups (churches, service clubs,businesses,ministry partners, etc.)
  • Assist in coordinatingvideos and other media resources to enhance the communication efforts ofSYFC
  • Facilitate arange of activities that inform andpromoteand securelegacy giving forSYFC
Event Management
  • Provide as needed input and/or leadership in the invitation and follow upof events, including assisting and giving input into the communication and strategy:
    • Regularly Scheduled “See the Story” Events(Point of entry)
    • The Legacy Dinner
    • End of Year-Christmas Giving appeal
    • Giving Challenge
    • Ministry Partner Appreciation Events
    • Other Projects(P2P)
  • Work with and through staff and volunteer teams to carry out the event strategy with a high degree of excellence
Administrative Support– Work with the Development Administrative Assistant to ensure
  • AssisttheExecutive Directorwith maintaining his own engagement strategy with his portfolio
  • Continuedproficiencyin the use ofBloomerang CRM and Fundraisingas our donorabndeventmanagement system
  • Ensure that receipt acknowledgement, recognition, and follow up with ministry partners is done in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Coordinate the process for solicitation, procurement, and acknowledgement of ‘Gift-In-Kind’ donationswhen applicable.
  • Assistand participate in the procurement ofgrant funding from local, state, and national foundations, in partnership with the Executive Director and in coordination with appropriate staff.

  • Assist with maintaining current information on theSYFCWebsite
  • Provide leadership input inall development communication materials.
StaffDevelopment Coaching
  • Provideinput and coaching for team members involved in Development, including 1-2 trainings per month
  • Assist with recruiting and managing ateam of volunteers to help with specific development events and projects
  • Provide regularupdates to theExecutive Director, includingat minimum;
    • 30 Day Activity report
    • Monthly Board Development Committee report??
    • All Development related information regarding current/potential partners
  • Attendand participate intraining opportunities and staff conferences when offered
  • Submit strategic initiatives to help the development department grow in impact
  • Support overall vision and mission ofSYFC

Credentials Required & Preferred Education
  • A passion and drive for fundraising, sales, customer service, or customer experience is a must
  • Some event planning and management experience. Mist be open to meeting new people and provide a positive interaction for them

TRAINING PROVIDED: This role requires training in the See The Story/Be The Story /YFC Champions Playbook pending Best Practice. This on-demand virtual training is provided by the Leader Formation Department and will include resources to help fulfill the responsibilities of this role.
