Job summary

The University of Michigan is seeking enthusiastic college students to serve as Off Campus Non-Profit Student Employee - Student Success Literacy/TUTOR (Summer Work Study Only). Tutors will support K-12 and college students in math, reading, writing, and science, helping improve academic performance and study habits in a supportive setting.

Work is onsite with variable hours, including evenings or weekends.

Qualifications

Ability to explain subject concepts in a simple and understandable manner.
Demonstrate subject matter expertise in math, reading, writing, and science.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team; reliable and punctual.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Patience, empathy, and genuine desire to help others succeed.
Work Study for Summer 2026.

Responsibilities

Attend required training sessions and meetings.
Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures.
Assist students with homework, assignments, and exam preparation.
Communicate effectively with students, parents (for K-12 students), and literacy program leadership.
Explain concepts and provide alternative approaches to learning in a clear and understandable way.
Provide academic support and tutoring to K-12 and college students in subjects such as math, reading, writing, and science, among others.
Support Literacy events.
