Job description

Trail Maintenance workers have a wide range of duties. They will help with ski trail construction and glading, wetland restoration, maintenance of water runoff, re-vegetation and hiking trail maintenance and construction. The YC has three mountains and over 2,200 skiable acres and over 28 miles of hiking trails needing continual summer maintenance. Trail Maintenance Workers must be able to work outside for 10+ hours a day. Workers will routinely perform duties around heavy machinery and chainsaw use is moderate to high.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each job function satisfactorily,which includes:

  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
  • Passes department chainsaw basic operator course and strives to work into timber faller classifications.
  • Carries a very high fitness level capable of working hard labor at high elevations routinely in adverse conditions for a 10+ hour shifts 4-5 days per week.
  • Construct, maintain and improve both new and established ski runs and hiking trails in a manner that is compliant with YC, State and Federal standards.
  • Adherence to all YC and Dept. safety standards.
  • Follow daily work assignments established by dept manager and crew supervisor.
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certified.
  • Work under the supervision of a crew supervisor.
