Scope

Assist a counselor with the supervision and programming for a group of assigned campers to gain experience in all phases of camp counseling and assist in other departments as necessary. All positions support the mission of Camp Arnold to teach campers about Jesus Christ.

General Duties

• Attend and participate in all camp programs and spiritual activities.
• Maintain a standard of cleanliness in personal grooming and in living quarters.
• Assist with the clean‑up of the total camp at the end of each session and at the conclusion of the summer.
• Assist with other duties as needed.

Specific Duties – Safety and Supervision

• Enforce camp policies and procedures.
• Maintain the utmost level of safety for staff and campers at all times.
• Ensure compliance with American Camping Association standards of safety and programmatic conduct at all times.
• Coordinate and implement all program components relative to the daily schedule in a timely fashion.

Weekly Responsibilities

• Assist Counselor in providing leadership, care and guidance of a group of assigned campers on a daily basis.
• Be an active participant in the initial cabin meeting for your assigned cabin group.
• Assist with supervision of assigned camper group while in the dining room.
• Assist with daily clean up of the cabin living area.
• Plan and conduct one cabin devotion per week.
• Check camper beds each morning for any wetting.
• If evidence of a wetting is found, follow procedures to wash bedding and clean mattress discreetly.
• Assist with leadership in the various program areas as assigned and coordinate your preparation with the Unit Leader.
• Accompany assigned camper group to all camp activities planned for their involvement.
• Complete any required forms related to camper or program evaluation, or health documentation.
• Complete the daily entries required in the Camper Log book as needed throughout the day.
• Attend Weekly Camp Out unless given specific permission otherwise.
• Assist with other duties as needed.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis.
• Ability to grasp, push, pull objects and reach overhead.
• Ability to operate telephone.
• Ability to operate a desktop or laptop computer.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
• Ability to access and produce information from a computer.
• Ability to understand written information.

Health Insurance

Low bi‑weekly premiums ($34.62) for employee‑only coverage, Kaiser HMO for those in a Kaiser service area, Anthem EPO/PPO available for others. Voluntary +1 and +family coverage at additional cost. Delta Dental DHMO and DPPO dental insurance start at $2.31 bi‑weekly cost. Employees receive an employer‑paid life insurance policy. Retirement Plans

Employer‑funded Money Purchase Pension Plan (defined contribution) 50% vested at 5 years eligible service; employee‑funded voluntary 403(b) options.

Parental Leave

One week (5 business days) of paid leave at the employee's normal rate for births, adoptions, and foster placements.

Sick Leave

12 days annually accruing from day one, eligible for use after 3 months' service.

Paid Vacation

2 weeks annually accruing from day one for non‑exempt positions; 4 weeks for exempt positions. Accrued vacation eligible for use after 6 months' service.

Paid Holidays

13 designated holidays + 1 floating holiday per year.
