Summer Swim Lesson Instructor | Walnut Creek Family YMCA

Position Overview: As a Swim Instructor, you will conduct YMCA swimming lessons and ensure participant safety at all times.

Job Location: Walnut Creek Family YMCA

Shifts Available: Daily Lessons 10am - 12pm (M-F), Evening Lessons 5:20pm - 7pm (T/TH), or Sundays 2pm - 3:30pm

Pay Range: $11.00 - $13.00/hour

Essential Functions

1. Instruct swimming lessons according to YMCA guidelines, preparing lesson plans accordingly.
2. Build effective relationships with students and parents; encourage parent involvement and identify potential volunteers.
3. Convey information on aquatics programs and schedules; refer students and parents to other programs as appropriate.
4. Maintain attendance and skill records for each participant.
5. Ensure safety by maintaining teaching equipment, conducting routine checks, and reporting damages.
6. Maintain surveillance of participants and know their locations at all times.
7. Follow YMCA policies, including emergency and safety procedures; complete incident reports as necessary.
8. Attend staff meetings and in-services; train and supervise class aides as assigned.
9. Represent the YMCA as a Leader of Aquatics Safety, creating a safe and welcoming environment.
10. Perform additional duties as assigned, supporting the YMCA's mission and values.
