The summer laborers are utilized to cover the summer months to provide overtime relief for the permanent employees cover for vacations. The hourly wage begins at $26.32/hr.; however, employees receive the rate of the job they are performing which provides the ability to achieve a higher rate.


The responsibilities include, but are not limited to unitizing product, assisting with set ups, adjusting and operating equipment which cuts, folds, stacks and prints sheet of corrugated to designated size. Once the machine is set up and operating correctly, the employee is responsible for safely monitoring the product to ensure a quality product and unitizing the bundles exiting the conveyor. Individuals with mobile equipment experience may be trained, certified and utilized providing product to the converting machines.

EXPLANATION


  • Employees (and their dependents) are eligible for medical, dental, vision, basic life and disability insurance coverage, subject to applicable waiting periods.

  • Employees are:


    • Automatically enrolled in PCA's 401k retirement plan at the time of hire

    • Eligible for 11 paid holidays after completing 30 days worked

    • Eligible for 40 hours vacation after completing probationary period

    • Reimbursed up to $150 for safety shoes after completing their introductory period

    • Eligible for up to $35 per month for monthly fitness membership

    • Annual gainshare up to 10% of earnings

Candidates selected for these positions will be required to provide the following information:


1. A copy of acceptance to university, college or vocational institute, if the student is just entering school, or all transcripts of all universities, colleges and vocational institutes attended listing credits earned, grades received, and courses completed.


2. Written verification of acceptance or enrollment in an institute of higher learning for the upcoming fall quarter/semester.


Students may be employed between May 15 and September 15 or the duration of the job and/or school beginning whichever is less. Those accepting summer employment positions must commit to work for this period of time or until the Company is no longer in need of their services.


RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Work as part of a team in support of a manufacturing operation with a goal of increasing productivity; decreasing downtime and waste.

  • Assume active role in overall plant and facilities-related work.

  • Position requires assisting all jobs on the plant floor.

  • Follow all company safety rules and lock-out tag-out procedures.

  • Maintain shop and shop equipment per housekeeping standards.

  • Other duties as assigned.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:



  • High School Graduate or GED.

  • Acceptance to an accredited college or university Fall 2024.

  • Be passionate about safety and maintaining a safe work environment.

  • Must be able to rotate shifts and work overtime including weekends as needed.

  • Must have a good attendance record.

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Experience in a packaging or other manufacturing environment is preferred.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:



  • Must be willing to work closely on a day-to-day basis with other production personnel.

  • Ability to share ideas with others to solve problems of essential importance.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Thrive in a cross-functional team environment.

  • Work with a sense of urgency to reduce downtime of machines.

  • Strong verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple requests simultaneously.
