Job summary

WEC Energy Group is seeking an Intern - Safety in Chicago, IL for Summer 2027. This full‑time internship offers hands‑on safety and health experience within the Illinois Safety and Health Team.

You will assist with training, industrial hygiene monitoring, safety observations, data analysis, and communication of safety programs, while supporting site personnel and program development. The hourly rate is $21.30 with paid holidays, and the role requires pursuing a degree in Safety or Industrial

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, HSED, or GED.
• Current pursuit of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Public Health, or a closely related degree with a graduation date after July 2027.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Minimum GPA of 2.8.

Responsibilities

• Conduct Safety & Health Initiatives.
• Conduct industrial hygiene exposure monitoring for various physical, biological and chemical agents to determine employee exposures.
• Audit safety and health performance through observation and inquiry.
• Identify improvement opportunities and inform facility management of issues and solutions.
• Act as a professional resource for all levels of employees while providing support services on safety and health.
• Deliver safety and health training programs and materials.
• Assist in the development and implementation of procedures, policies, and programs relating to safety and health.
• Assist Safety & Health Consultants with program development and implementation.
• Establish and maintain good working relationships with facility employees and department leaders.
