Kent County Road Commission is currently accepting seasonal/summer applications for the Road Maintenance Division for all locations.
North - Cedar Springs
Central - Grand Rapids
South - Airport
Southwest - Byron Center
Works with FT maintenance workers on road maintenance projects.
Over the course of a summer, may assist with road construction, placing drainage structures, shoveling and leveling of materials, doing restoration of disturbed areas. May perform a myriad of maintenance functions as, ditching or drainage restoration, correcting erosion problems, repairing vehicle accident sites as guardrail damage, directing traffic as flag person with a work crew. Shoveling and leveling blacktop, cutting brush, and trimming for vision and encroachment control as well as any roadside cleanup (includes picking up trash, weed whipping, etc.). This job can be physically taxing and you may be required to lift amounts up to 100 lb. It is mainly outdoor work, and may be exposed to allergens. We work rain or shine!
Applicants must be a minimum of 18 years of and have a valid driver's license and be able to pass a drug test. Our season (summer) begins in May and runs through September. Wages start at $15/hour. If a returning seasonal, you'll receive an additional $1 per hour up to $17.
Schedule is typically 6:00am-4:30pm, Monday through Thursday, unless assigned to our Southwest (Byron Center) Complex - schedule is Tuesday - Friday.
