Job summary

Jane Street in New York City seeks an experienced Residential Director for the Academy of Math and Programming (AMP) summer program. You will live on site with students, helping create a safe, welcoming community and supporting students as they adjust to communal living.

You will collaborate with guidance counselors, dean of students, instructors, and teaching assistants to coordinate support across classroom and dorm. Travel and housing are provided; program runs late June through early August.

Qualifications

• Have experience working in residential education, student life, summer camps, boarding schools, college housing, or a similar setting
• Experienced with supporting older teenagers or young adults
• Mature, calm, and dependable, with sound judgment and clear personal boundaries
• Comfortable setting expectations, addressing routine conflict, and responding to unexpected situations
• A thoughtful communicator who works well with students, families, and program staff
• Able to handle sensitive student matters discreetly and escalating concerns appropriately

Responsibilities

• Live in the student residence for the duration of the program, with assigned evening and weekend shifts and scheduled overnight on-call coverage
• Partner with on-site security to support curfew policies and helping students follow quiet hours, study hours, and other residential expectations
• Conduct regular cleanliness checks of student rooms and common spaces, and reinforcing shared expectations for upkeep
• Monitoring students who stay in the residence because they are sick and unable to attend class
• Supporting daily check-ins and headcounts in coordination with the guidance counselor
• Encouraging responsible behavior and helping students set healthy boundaries around socializing, sleep, and well-being
• Responding to student needs and escalating health, safety, or well-being concerns to the appropriate program staff
• Supporting supervision and logistics for evening and weekend activities
