Under the direction of the Camp Director, the Summer Resident Camp Leadership Staff providesleadership, training, and supervision to seasonal camp staff in alignment with the YMCA’s mission andvalues. This role is responsible for supporting staff orientation, monitoring cabin life, and ensuring safe,high-quality camp programs. The position plays a critical role in staff development, program excellence,and the overall camper experience through supervision, coaching, and modeling positive leadership.

Essential Functions:
- Assist in planning, coordination, and implementation of staff orientation, training, and developmentactivities.
- Provide day-to-day leadership and supervision to cabin counselors, ensuring program quality andsafety.
- Support the development, coordination, and delivery of staff training content, including YMCApolicies and safety standards.
- Monitor and evaluate staff performance, offering coaching, feedback, and recognition.
- Assist in ensuring safe and inclusive camp programs that reflect YMCA mission and values.
- Support supervision of cabin life, including camper adjustment, group living, and parentcommunication.
- Assist with the facilitation of camp spiritual life components, including devotions, worship services,and vespers.
- Collaborate with the Camp Director to ensure budgetary, program quality, and safety goals are met.
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation as required.
- Act as a role model by demonstrating professionalism, positive leadership, and adherence tocamp policies.
Required Qualifications:
- At least one year of college completed.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to foster positive relationships with staff, campers, and parents.
- Competence with computer applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, and publishing/designsoftware (e.g., PageMaker).
- Demonstrated ability to lead in alignment with YMCA mission, values, and Christian principles.
- Experience facilitating group activities, trainings, or spiritual programming preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, remain flexible, and adapt to changing camp needs.
- Commitment to creating an inclusive, supportive, and safe camp environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Three to five years of experience in a camp environment, with at least one year in a role preferred. Three to five years of experience in a camp environment, with at least one year in a leadership role preferred.
- Supervisory experience in staff recruitment, training, and performance management preferred.
Working Conditions:
- Requires living and working in a residential camp environment throughout the summer season.
- Work schedule includes long hours, evenings, weekends, and limited personal time.
- Must be able to sit, stand, and move around camp facilities for extended periods.
- Physical requirements include the ability to see, hear, lift, and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Involves outdoor work in varying weather conditions with exposure to insects, heat, and camp relatedenvironmental elements.
- Requires active engagement in camp activities, including walking between program areas, supervising groups, and assisting in emergencies.
