Job summary

Hilmar Cheese Company invites you to join our 10-week paid internship program in Hilmar, CA. Interns work on real projects alongside our team and participate in dairy visits, community initiatives, and leadership Q&A sessions.

You will gain hands-on experience with process improvements in cheese and whey production, while developing technical and communication skills for future careers in engineering, operations, or business.

Qualifications

• Completion of Sophomore year at a college or university and working towards a degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Manufacturing, Business, Food Science, Dairy Science or Ag Management/Science.
• Basic knowledge of MS Office products: Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel
• Strong applied technical skills and analytical problem-solving skills
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Reliable transportation to and from work

Responsibilities

• Improvement of a specific process, product line, or function within one or more of the cheese or whey plants
• Identification of opportunities to reduce the cost of production for a specific product or production line
• Identification of the causes of waste within one or more manufacturing processes and recommendations for actions to eliminate the waste
• Development of standard work processes to implement and sustain identified improvement opportunities
