Job summary

Hilmar Cheese Company offers a 10-week paid internship in Engineering & Technical Services at our Hilmar, CA site. Interns will work on real-life projects, gain exposure to dairy processes, and participate in community projects while learning from senior leaders.

Ideal candidates are Sophomore students pursuing Engineering or related fields with strong MS Office skills, analytical/problem-solving abilities, and reliable transportation. A potential full-time opportunity may arise after graduation.

Qualifications

• Completion of Sophomore year at a university and working towards a degree in Engineering or related.
• Basic knowledge of MS Office: Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
• Strong applied technical skills and analytical problem solving.
• Good oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Finding the optimum, most cost-effective methods of manufacturing dairy products.
• Sampling, data collection, and analysis.
• Creating proposals to reduce operating costs, process capacity constraints, product losses, and product quality variation.
• Identification of waste causes and recommendations to eliminate waste.
• Development of standard work processes to implement improvements.
• Validate electrical prints are up to date and stored properly.
• Utility optimization of steam, refrigeration, compressed air, water, and wastewater.
