Position Description

Manhattan University seeks qualified and engaging Pre-CollegeAdjunct Instructors to teach summer courses for high-schoolstudents (grades 9-12) as part of its Pre-College Summer Program.Courses are designed to provide academically rigorous highereducation learning experiences while introducing students todisciplinary foundations, applied skills, and careerpathways.

Adjunct Instructors are responsible for course design, instruction,student engagement, and assessment in a youth-centered learningenvironment.

All courses are delivered in-person on campus at ManhattanUniversity.

Start: Various start dates beginning July 6, 2026 throughAugust 13, 2026
Duration : Most programs run one week only. Hours for eachprogram will vary and be provided with assignments.

Job Responsibilities

Instruction & Curriculum:
  • Design and deliver assigned pre-college course(s) aligned withprogram learning outcomes and Manhattan University academicstandards.
  • Prepare engaging, age-appropriate, and inclusive lessons forhigh-school students.
  • Integrate experiential learning, discussions, applied projects,and real-world examples.
  • Adapt instructional methods to support diverse learning stylesand academic backgrounds.
Student Engagement & Support:
  • Foster a supportive, respectful, and academically challengingclassroom environment.
  • Provide academic guidance, mentorship, and constructivefeedback to students.
  • Maintain appropriate professional boundaries while supportingstudent development.
Requirements
  • A Master’s degree in the relevant discipline or a closelyrelated field is preferred; alternatively, a Bachelor’s degreecombined with substantial professional experience in the subjectarea will be considered

  • Prior teaching experience preferred

  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities

  • Demonstrated capacity to engage, motivate, and effectivelymanage high school students within a structured learningenvironment
