Job summary

Clark College in Michigan is seeking an Operations Intern to support project teams on commercial construction sites. You will work with Project Managers, Project Engineers, and Superintendents to learn planning, coordination, and execution of complex projects.

This hands-on internship offers real-world experience on Michigan projects and the chance to contribute to meaningful work. As you gain exposure to field operations, documentation, and cost tracking, you will shadow Superintendents,

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, Architecture, or a related field.
• Interest in building a career within the commercial construction industry.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Eagerness to learn and contribute as part of a team.
• Reliable transportation to and from assigned project locations.

Responsibilities

• Assist with project documentation, reporting, and file management.
• Create and maintain physical and electronic project files.
• Manage submittal logs, drawing logs, and inspection tracking systems.
• Monitor project submittals to support timely review and approval.
• Enter and track RFIs and help facilitate responses.
• Assist with labor hour tracking and reporting.
• Prepare meeting minutes and distribute project communications.
• Track project bulletins, scope changes, and contract modifications.
• Support change order administration and project cost documentation.
• Update punch lists and project closeout items.
• Participate in project reviews and lessons learned discussions.
• Spend time in the field shadowing Superintendents to learn construction processes.

What You'll Do

As an Operations Intern, you'll play an active role in supporting project teams by:

• Assisting with project documentation, reporting, and file management.
• Creating and maintaining physical and electronic project files.
• Managing submittal logs, drawing logs, and inspection tracking systems.
• Monitoring project submittals to support timely review and approval.
• Entering and tracking RFIs (Requests for Information) and helping facilitate responses.
• Assisting with labor hour tracking and reporting.
• Preparing meeting minutes and distributing project communications.
• Tracking project bulletins, scope changes, and contract modifications.
• Supporting change order administration and project cost documentation.
• Updating punch lists and project closeout items.
• Participating in project reviews and lessons learned discussions.
• Spending time in the field shadowing Superintendents to learn how commercial construction projects are built from the ground up.
