Job summary

Memorial Health in Illinois seeks a Summer Nurse Intern to support registered nurses in delivering age-appropriate patient care on-site. You will assist with assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation under supervision, while developing organizational and critical thinking skills.

Under the RN's discretion, you may perform basic tasks within the Nursing Technician scope once competency is validated; you will not administer medications or IV fluids.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of junior year in a BSN nursing program or completion of at least two semesters of an ADN nursing program.
• Current CPR certification required.
• Position involves exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissues, contagious diseases and/or radioactive or other potentially hazardous materials.
• Position requires ability to position and/or transfer an average adult patient and to withstand prolonged periods of walking/standing.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist RN in providing age-appropriate care under direct supervision in various patient situations.
• Participate in assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation under supervision.
• Avoid medication administration or IVs; tasks within RN-approved scope may be performed as competency validated.
