Job summary

General Motors in Sunnyvale, CA is seeking an intern to help develop and optimize our AI training platform. You will improve data processing pipelines, accelerate model training and inference workflows, and enhance testing infrastructure to boost reliability and reduce latency.

The role requires enrolled students pursuing a Bachelor's or Master’s in CS/AI/ML, graduating 2027–2029, able to work full‑time for 12 weeks during the summer.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a full‑time degree program in CS/AI/ML/related STEM field.
• Graduating between December 2027 and August 2029 with at least one semester remaining.
• Available to work full‑time, 40 hours/week, for 12 weeks in 2027.
• Strong foundation in algorithms and data structures; proficient in C++/Python.

Responsibilities

• Develop scalable infrastructure and tools for model training, deployment, and inference.
• Collect and synthesize requirements to create feature roadmaps with mentors.
• Write code in collaboration with the engineering team.
• Adapt ML methods to exploit distributed environments (clusters, multicore, GPU).
• Support testing, instrumentation, and monitoring to boost reliability and speed.
