Job summary

Oakland University Housing is seeking Maintenance Assistants to support facility operations across Residence Halls, assist with trash disposal, and participate in maintenance and enhancement projects.

Responsibilities include supply delivery, room setup, cleaning in absence of full-time staff, carpet shampooing, and related duties. Weekend hours are available with flexible scheduling.

Qualifications

• Must be a current Oakland University student (sophomore–senior by Fall 2026).
• GPA of 2.75 or higher.
• Must have OU email and apply with OU email.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds regularly.
• A valid Michigan driver’s license is desired but not required.

Responsibilities

• Supply delivery, meeting room and furniture set-ups, student room furniture set-up.
• Cleaning of Residence Halls in absence of full-time employees and cleaning of vacant apartments.
• Carpet shampooing and related housekeeping tasks.
• Saturday and Sunday hours are offered with flexible schedules.

Job description

Maintenance Assistants are responsible for supporting the Oakland University Housing, Residential Facility’s Team by assisting in facility operations, including trash disposal and projects that relate to facility maintenance and enhancement.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

• Must have Oakland University email and apply with your Oakland University email


• Must have sophomore, junior, or senior class standing at Oakland University by Fall 2026


• Current cumulative and semester GPA must be 2.75 or higher


• Must be able to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis


• A valid Michigan driver's license and driving record acceptable to Oakland University is desired but not required


• Custodial and/or maintenance experience is desired but not required

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

• Can expect other related duties, such as; supply delivery, meeting room and furniture set-ups, student room furniture set-up, cleaning of Residence Halls in absence of full-time employees, cleaning of vacant apartments, carpet shampooing, etc.


• Saturday and Sunday hours are offered with flexible schedules
