• Become a Lifeguard

As a Lifeguard at the YMCA, you'll be responsible for:

• Explaining and enforcing safety regulations and rules to ensure a safe environment for all swimmers.
• Monitoring for safety hazards and assisting in poolside activities.
• Remaining rescue-ready at all times and implementing emergency procedures when necessary.
• Assessing swimming capabilities of individuals in the aquatic area.
• Providing structured lessons following the YUSA curriculum (for Swim Instructors).
• Participating in training and shadowing shifts during onboarding.

Qualifications

• Minimum age of 16 years.
• Current certifications in Lifeguard/Swim Instructor, Pro CPR, First Aid, and Oxygen, or willingness to obtain.
• Daytime availability for summer employment, starting in May or June, sooner if available.
