Job summary

The ACLU is seeking a full-time Summer Legal Intern for the SCOTUS Docket in the National Office. The internship may be remote or hybrid and can be based in San Francisco, CA or New York, NY. You must be a current law student based in the U.S.

for the duration of the internship. Responsibilities include legal research, brief drafting, and supporting long-term planning and strategy projects across voting rights, LGBTQ rights, immigration, and free speech.

Qualifications

• Must be a current law student in the U.S.
• Completion of 1L year prior to start; 2L preferred
• Strong research and writing skills; oral communication capable
• Excellent organization and time-management abilities
• Demonstrated commitment to public interest law and civil liberties

Responsibilities

• Conduct legal research and analysis to support Supreme Court litigation projects
• Assist in drafting legal memoranda, motions and briefs
• Support coordination with ACLU affiliates and cooperating attorneys
• Gain exposure to advocacy strategy development and coalition management
