Job summary

SMS group is offering a structured internship in the metals industry in Pittsburgh, with some roles at Oil City and East Pittsburgh. You will own a real project in your department under a dedicated lead and a 1:1 mentor, gaining hands-on experience across functions.

The 12-week program runs late May 2027 to early August 2027, full-time 40 hours per week, paid hourly. You’ll present your work to SMS leadership at the Capstone and have opportunities to grow with the company.

• Current students in engineering, technical, or business fields
• Comfortable owning your work and collaborating across a team
• Motivated to learn fast and grow into leadership

Responsibilities

• Own a real project in your department, backed by a dedicated Department Lead and a 1:1 mentor.
• Explore the whole company through weekly cross-functional Discovery Sessions with departments like Engineering, Operations, Finance, and Safety.
• Get out of the office for site tours, global networking, and team events.
• Cap the summer by presenting your work to SMS leadership at the August Capstone.
