Job summary

Intercontinental Exchange, Inc. invites an Engineering Intern to contribute to AI-powered platform features on a live enterprise system.

You will work full-stack across Java/Spring and React/TypeScript while exploring MCP, agent design, and prompt engineering. The program includes weekly sessions with industry leaders, collaboration with interns, and hands-on projects across financial services and technology domains.

Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled in a degree program at an accredited university and be at least advancing to their junior year of study
• Hands‑on experience or strong interest in AI/LLM integration, including Model Context Protocol (MCP), agent design, and prompt engineering
• Familiarity with Java and Spring Boot, including REST API design and NoSQL database integration (MongoDB)
• Proficiency in React and TypeScript, including component design and state management
• Exposure to containerized deployments, CI/CD pipelines, and Git/GitHub workflows

Responsibilities

• Design and develop AI-powered platform features, including MCP gateway integrations, agentic workflows, and prompt engineering
• Build and iterate on full-stack features spanning Java/Spring backend services and React/TypeScript frontend interfaces
• Contribute to AI agent architecture, including tool discovery, role-based authorization, and authenticated context propagation
• Support sprint execution and technical documentation, including Jira stories and architecture decision records
• Perform additional duties and contribute to projects as assigned

Internship Program Schedule

To accommodate varying academic calendars, the ICE Internship Program offers two schedule options:

• Option 1: May 24, 2027 August 6, 2027
• Option 2: June 7, 2027 August 20, 2027

Candidates will be asked to select their preferred session during the application process.

Please Note: Interns must be available to work full‑time, five days a week, at our New York (11 Wall Street) office for the entire duration of one of the designated program schedules. Partial participation or alternate dates cannot be accommodated.

Hourly Pay Rate for New York Candidates

The expected hourly rate for this role is $30 per hour.
