Job summary

Applied Materials in Gloucester, MA is seeking a summer 2027 intern to help develop plasma processing tools for ion implantation, dry etch, and material modification. You will perform numerical investigations, analyze results, and present findings to internal teams.

Ideal candidates are pursuing an MS or PhD in Physics, Electrical/Mechanical/Nuclear Engineering, Chemistry, or related fields with a GPA above 3.0.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a MS or PhD in Physics, EE, Nuclear Eng, Mechanical Eng, Chemistry or related field.
• Experience in ion beam transport, magnet design or plasma modeling preferred.
• Must be a quick learner and able to work in a fast-paced research environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform numerical investigations of semiconductor processing tools using commercial and in-house software.
• Analyze results, draw scientific conclusions, and present at internal meetings.
• Lead small design projects involving beamline and plasma source optimization.
