Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Company in Columbia, SC is offering an Instrumentation and Controls intern role for Summer 2027. The paid, full-time hybrid internship reports to the EFIN Manager and runs May–August 2027 at the Columbia facility.

The role focuses on fuel manufacturing design, operation, and troubleshooting, with hands-on PLC programming and HMI visualization work. The intern will develop expertise with the CFFF and LEU+ site projects, work with mentors on Safety Basis in a Nuclear

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
• Completed Sophomore year of college.
• Experience with Technical Design and Analysis.
• Develop and deliver technical presentations to communicate a variety of issues.
• Open to limited travel.
• PLC programming experience.
• HMI Visualization experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop expertise in the design, construction, operation, and troubleshooting of fuel manufacturing sites.
• Develop technical expertise supporting CFFF and LEU+ manufacturing site construction.
• Work with Engineering Mentor to develop Safety Basis in a Nuclear setting.
• Collaborate in teams to resolve critical issues affecting construction and operation of nuclear facilities.
• Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external customers.
• Develop specifications for replacement parts in manufacturing environments.
• Follow plant standards for design and implementation of projects at CFFF.
• Perform PLC code review, programming, optimization, and visualization using Allen Bradley and GE.

About the role:

As an Instrumentation and Controls intern, you will report to the EFIN Manager and be located at our Columbia, SC facility. This is a paid full-time hybrid position for the summer, May - August 2027.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop expertise in the design, construction, operation, and troubleshooting of fuel manufacturing sites
• Develop technical expertise fuel manufacturing supporting the CFFF and new construction of the LEU+ manufacturing site
• Work with Engineering Mentor to develop skills for Safety Basis in a Nuclear
• Work in teams to resolve critical issues affecting the construction and operation of nuclear manufacturing facilities
• Develop and maintain a business relationship with internal and external Westinghouse customers
• Develop specifications for replacement parts in the manufacturing environment
• Follow plant standards for design and implementation of projects at the CFFF
• PLC code review, programming, optimization, and visualization - Allen Bradley and GE

We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The hourly rate for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $25.40 to $29.00 per hour.
