Job summary

Allegion is offering a Summer Intern position as a Firmware Engineer in Farmington, Connecticut. You will contribute to the Firmware/Embedded Software team, developing, debugging and testing embedded firmware for microcontroller-based products and supporting hardware bring-up with debugging tools.

You will participate in requirements discussions, design reviews and collaborate across hardware, test and manufacturing teams.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Demonstrated leadership ability and initiative.
• Preferred knowledge of C programming and embedded microprocessors.

Responsibilities

• Develop, debug, and test embedded firmware for microcontroller-based products.
• Define requirements and design discussions for new firmware features.
• Implement device drivers and communication stacks (UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, Ethernet, BLE as applicable).
• Work with RTOS and bare-metal architectures as required by product designs.
• Support hardware bring-up using debuggers (JTAG/SWD), logic analyzers, and oscilloscopes.
• Document firmware design, test procedures, release notes, and SOPs.
