Mentor-guided internship

Job summary

Hawaiian Electric invites a student to join our internship program on Oahu, working within Transmission & Distribution Engineering, Engineering Standards, or Customer Engineering. You will collaborate with an assigned mentor on an objective-based project.

You'll participate in tours and workshops, and conclude with a formal presentation of your findings to the management team.

Qualifications

• Active student enrolled in a post-secondary program.
• GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Planning to attend school Fall 2027.
• Expected graduation December 2027 or later for Summer 2027 applicants.

Responsibilities

• Work on project-based assignments within Transmission & Distribution Engineering, Engineering Standards, or Customer Engineering departments.
• Collaborate closely with an assigned mentor to research and execute an objective-based project.
• Participate in cross-functional activities such as power plant tours, social events, career pathway panels, and professional development workshops.
• Present project achievements and lessons learned to Hawaiian Electric's management team at the end of the internship.

About You

The company is looking for candidates who meet the following requirements:

• Current, active student at a post-secondary school (college or community college).
• Good academic standing with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Enrolled in a degree program in Electrical Engineering.
• Planning to attend school in Fall 2027.
• Expected graduation date of December 2027 or later for Summer 2027 applicants.

Compensation & Benefits

• Starting pay at $23.00 per hour.
• Work schedule Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm with a 30-minute lunch break.
• Location: Oahu.
