Job summary

Allegion is seeking a Summer Intern - Controls Engineering to join our Indianapolis team for Summer 2027. This internship offers hands-on experience in a manufacturing and automation environment, working alongside experienced controls engineers and technicians on real-world projects.

You will develop skills in industrial automation, electrical schematics, electrical and pneumatic prints, and software backups while contributing to startup activities on the factory floor.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in an engineering/engineering technology/computer science or related field.
• Basic understanding of electrical circuits.
• Willingness to learn and adopt new technologies.
• Strong communication and proactive problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist development and troubleshooting of automation systems.
• Work with industrial networks and infrastructure.
• Assist in creating and updating electrical and pneumatic schematics and documentation.
• Support installation, testing, and startup of equipment on the production floor.
• Participate in root cause analysis and corrective actions for controls issues.
• Maintain software backups and version control for automation systems.

Summer Intern - Controls Engineering - Indianapolis, Indiana Allegion is seeking a Controls intern to join our team for the summer of 2027. This is a great opportunity for a student to gain hands‑on experience in a unique manufacturing and automation environment. This position will work closely with experienced Controls engineers and technicians, contributing to real‑world projects gaining valuable skills in industrial automation. What You Will Do:

• Assist with development and troubleshooting of new and existing automation systems

What You Need to Succeed:

• Currently enrolled in an engineering, engineering technology, computer science, technical, or related field of study
• Basic understanding of electrical circuits and a willingness to continue learning
• Strong problem‑solving skills with a tenacity for finding the root cause of issues and implementing solutions
• Aptitude for technical communication and the ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as executing on tasks independently
• Eagerness to learn new technologies
