Job summary

Farm Credit Mid-America invites Summer Interns to join a 12-week program in Louisville, KY, May through August. Interns contribute to real projects across Credit, Collateral, Food and Agribusiness, HR, Marketing, Retail Operations, and Rural 1st teams.

You’ll have on-the-job experience, job shadowing, mentorship, and customer-focused activities, with furnished housing available and a $22 per hour wage. Transportation is covered by you with mileage reimbursement where applicable.

Our 12-week program (Mid-May to early August) combines on-the-job experience, job shadowing, mentorship, and customer‑focused experiences. In addition, interns will participate in a series of learning and development opportunities to build skills that translate to the workplace. Compensation: We value our interns and offer a competitive wage alongside the benefit of gaining the real-life experience. Our internships pay $22 an hour. Furnished apartment housing is available for students relocating for the summer. Location: The internship work location will be based in our Louisville office and may have an opportunity to be based within Farm Credit Mid-America retail office in our marketplace (Arkansas, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio or Tennessee). Location is dependent on the intern work assignment. Furnished housing is available for those who temporarily relocate to area where internship is located. Transportation: To support your success in this role, you are expected to provide your own transportation to commute to and from your work location. If you are required to use your personal vehicle for approved business purposes, you may be eligible for reimbursement at the current federal mileage rate.

How You Will Spend Your Time

WORK AS A TEAM TO ACCOMPLISH SPECIFIC GOALS

Interns will work as a cohort and within smaller teams in a variety of work and project situations throughout the program. Interns will be exposed to several departments and functions throughout the duration of the program. These areas include Credit, Collateral, Food and Agribusiness, Human Resources, Marketing and Retail Operations and Rural 1st teams.

INTERN LEARNING & DEVELOPMENT:

As an intern, you will gain Farm Credit Mid-America and industry knowledge as well as develop professional skills by completing a series of learning & development activities. This includes workshops, classes, and immersive experiences.

CUSTOMER, COMMUNITY AND TEAM INVOLVEMENT:

The intern will demonstrate FCMA values through his/her interaction with potential and current FCMA customers, the community, and the office team. The intern will assist the office staff in daily activities as appropriate.

REPRESENT AND COMMUNICATE THE MISSION AND VALUES OF FARM CREDIT MID-AMERICA:

Interns represent and communicate our core values and comply with conduct policy and confidentiality expectations.

CAPSTONE PRESENTATION TO FARM CREDIT MID-AMERICA LEADERSHIP:

At the conclusion of the internship, the intern teams will present their learnings and experiences from the program to members of the Farm Credit Mid-America leadership team.

Education & Experience

Summer Interns will be college students actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, agriculture, economics, business, or related field. Candidates should have completed a minimum of 45 credit hours toward their degree at the start of the intern program.

Mental & Physical Requirements

While engaged in this position, team members will routinely sit, use hands for tasks, and communicate orally. Standing or walking is frequently required, while occasional demands include reaching with hands and arms, and lifting or moving up to ten pounds. Vision requirements encompass close and distance vision. The work environment typically has a moderate noise level. This role may entail a blend of mental and physical capabilities, requiring strong mental acuity, problem‑solving skills, and occasional physical tasks such as standing, lifting, or extended computer usage.
