Job summary

Traders Point Christian Church is offering a Summer Intern position to support ministries while gaining hands-on leadership experience. The program provides exposure to a specific ministry area, mentoring, meaningful tasks, and opportunities for growth personally, spiritually, and professionally.

The intern will learn operations by shadowing staff, assist with planning and execution of events, and participate in leadership development activities designed to deepen faith and practical ministry

Responsibilities

• Shadow ministry leaders by working alongside staff and volunteers to learn how ministry is carried out in one primary ministry area such as Kids, Youth, Groups, or Outreach.
• Support ministry projects by assisting with the planning, coordination, and execution of events, programs, and initiatives.
• Learn church operations by gaining exposure to behind-the-scenes work of ministry, including communications, volunteer coordination, and logistics.
• Participate in leadership development through staff meetings, trainings, and workshops designed to grow interns in spiritual formation, ministry leadership, and practical ministry skills.
• Engage in spiritual growth through prayer gatherings, retreats, and learning opportunities that deepen personal faith and understanding of the church’s mission.
• Perform other duties as required.

JOB SUMMARY

The Summer Intern plays a vital role in supporting the church’s ministries while gaining hands‑on experience in ministry leadership. This program provides exposure to a specific ministry area, opportunities for shadowing and mentoring, ownership of meaningful tasks, and a space to grow personally, spiritually, and professionally.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This role has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

DUTIES/PRIMARY JOB PRODUCTS

• Shadow ministry leaders by working alongside staff and volunteers to learn how ministry is carried out in one primary ministry area such as Kids, Youth, Groups, or Outreach.
• Support ministry projects by assisting with the planning, coordination, and execution of events, programs, and initiatives. Contribute ideas, provide support, and ensure projects run smoothly.
• Learn church operations by gaining exposure to the behind‑the‑scenes work of ministry, including communications, volunteer coordination, and logistics.
• Participate in leadership development through staff meetings, trainings, and workshops designed to grow interns in spiritual formation, ministry leadership, and practical ministry skills.
• Engage in spiritual growth through prayer gatherings, retreats, and learning opportunities that deepen personal faith and understanding of the church’s mission.
• Perform other duties as required.

INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS

• This position reports directly to the assigned ministry mentor, with additional oversight from the NextGen Leadership Development Pastor.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree in progress or working.
• Actively involved in the life of a local church.
• Participation in extracurricular or leadership roles preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENTS

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to sit, stand, bend, kneel or squat.
• Must be able to lift 25 pounds at times.
• Must be able to work various hours to accommodate events occasionally.
• Ability to travel locally as needed.
