Job summary

A community education organization is seeking a Summer Instructor Lead to oversee youth recreation programs. This part-time, temporary position is from June 3 until August 31, 2026, with scheduled hours as needed. The ideal candidate will be at least 16 years of age and possess a desire to build relationships with youth. Responsibilities include leading curriculum implementation, overseeing staff, and ensuring positive experiences for participants. Pay ranges from $16.10 to $17.45 per hour.

Responsibilities

• Supervisors will attend staff training the evening of June 3rd
• Supervisors will lead the administration of the established curriculum.
• Supervisors will oversee program staff in their particular program, and are responsible for the coaching effectiveness of staff and the quality of the program, with help of the recreation coordinator.
• Supervisors will oversee child behavior, and implement the disciplinary action plan as needed. Supervisors will arrive early, know and fully execute the plan for each day, engage 100% throughout the program, teach general disciplines of each activity, enhance skill development, build relationships with youth, and communicate as needed with parents/guardians.
• Supervisors will show enthusiasm and create fun, positive experiences through words, actions, and non-verbal cues.
• Supervisors will keep track of time worked and record it on timesheets.
• Supervisors will openly communicate with the recreation coordinator, in a timely manner, regarding vacation requests, program issues, etc.
• Supervisors will be required to fill in for up to two Saturday swim lessons, OR two evening swim lesson dates (if aquatics staff).
