Job summary

HII - America’s largest shipbuilder and a global defense provider - invites applications for a 2027 Legal Summer internship at our Arlington, Virginia office. This 10-week program supports business, finance, IT, and legal/government affairs while exposing you to in-house counsel life at a public company.

You will attend staff meetings, draft documents, perform legal research, and interact with business units and outside counsel.

Qualifications

• Be enrolled in a Juris Doctorate program at an accredited law school.
• Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Be continuing in a Juris Doctorate program in the fall following the internship.
• Work a 40-hour work week for a minimum of 10 weeks during the summer.

Responsibilities

• Attend law department staff meetings.
• Review Teaming Agreements and Nondisclosure Agreements.
• Draft letters or other documents as necessary.
• Legal research and prepare memoranda.
• Attend meetings with the business units.
• Attend meetings with outside counsel.
• Perform additional assignments as requested.
