SCHEDULE:
To be at the nurse's station before and after meals, at campfire, and return to the nurse's station afterward.
Assistant is to be available at the station for open clinic hours as determined by the camp nurse. Schedule is assigned in conjunction with the camp schedule and the Assistant Camp Administrator.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Current certification in CPR for the Professional Rescuer (American Red Cross) or certification by the American Heart Association for the BLS (Basic Life Support) for Healthcare Providers Program.
* Current certification in First-Aid.
GENERAL DUTIES:
1. Assist in all tasks assigned by the Camp Nurse.
2. Attend and participate in evening programs and spiritual activities.
3. Maintain cleanliness in personal grooming and living quarters.
4. Assist with camp clean-up at session end and summer's conclusion.
5. Uphold honesty, purity, and integrity to inspire others towards a deeper relationship with God.
6. Assist with evening cabin supervision.
7. Perform any other duties assigned by the Camp Nurse or Assistant Camp Administrator.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
Safety and Supervision:
1. Enforce camp policies and procedures.
2. Ensure safety for staff, participants, and visitors at all times.
3. Teach and enforce safety standards for program components.
4. Comply with American Camping Association safety standards.
5. Coordinate program components with the outdoor school schedule.
Weekly Responsibilities:
1. Discuss health and safety procedures during pre-camp training.
2. Familiarize with the clinic, camp facilities, and staff.
3. Instruct counselors on reporting illnesses, injuries, or unsafe conditions.
4. Prepare and check first aid kits.
5. Administer medications and first-aid under supervision, maintaining records.
6. Carry first-aid supplies when leaving the clinic.
7. Maintain daily treatment logs.
8. Assist with camp registration medical check-in.
9. Keep the nurse's station clean and do laundry as needed.
10. Practice medical scenarios with waterfront staff.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist regularly.
Ability to grasp, push, pull, reach overhead, operate a phone and computer.
Lift up to 25 lbs.
Able to understand written information.
