Job description

Join to apply for the Summer Group Facilitator K-8 role at Congreso de Latinos Unidos.

This seasonal role involves working 7.5 hours Monday through Friday from approximately June 16th to August 1st.

Position Summary

The Temporary Full-Time (Summer) K-8 Group Facilitator is responsible for facilitating daily activities, developing and implementing engaging programs for elementary and middle school students, and supervising them in a safe environment. This role reports to the K-8 Site Coordinator and is primarily onsite at schools, Congreso’s offices, and community locations for field trips and activities.

Essential Functions
  1. Represent Congreso’s mission, values, and commitment to DEI&B.
  2. Facilitate activities for up to 12 K-5th or 15 6th-8th grade students.
  3. Write lesson plans and instruct in creative arts, STEM, or athletics and health.
  4. Participate in field trips and off-site activities.
  5. Supervise snack time and classroom behavior, ensuring safety and positive interactions.
  6. Monitor student progress and behavior, reporting as needed.
  7. Attend training, staff meetings, and follow policies.
  8. Maintain supplies and classroom conditions.
  9. Report incidents immediately.
Qualifications
  • Associate degree in relevant fields or a high school diploma/GED with two years of experience working with youth.
  • Minimum two years’ experience in early childhood or afterschool programs; community-based experience is a plus.
  • Mandated Reporter and VRA certifications required (may be obtained post-hire).
  • Knowledge of the Philadelphia Latino and urban communities is a plus.
  • Bilingual skills in Spanish and English are advantageous.
