Immediate Supervisor: Department Director/Crew Leader

Summary

Perform general maintenance, upkeep, cleaning, or grounds work to maintain or improve the condition of District buildings, grounds, and equipment. Responsibilities include working on the Hipple Complex Athletic field grounds maintenance and supporting Operations (Grounds). This is a 40-hour position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform lawn care tasks such as mowing, trimming, pruning, spraying, raking, planting, composting/mulching, and top-dressing.
  • Maintain District grounds, including drainage, landscaping, and sodding.
  • Maintain athletic facilities, including line painting, string trimming, infield dragging, and field chalking.
  • Repair fences, gates, walls, and walkways.
  • Sharpen or clean tools such as mower blades, weed cutters, edging tools, and shears.
  • Exercise knowledge of safety techniques, including PPE, handling materials, lifting, and equipment use.
  • Ensure quality work through monitoring grounds appearance.
  • Demonstrate reliable attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience

Current high school student, graduate, or GED. Must be 18+ years old to work Grounds and possess a valid driver’s license.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to prioritize, organize, and work independently or in a team.
  • Basic knowledge of hazardous materials and safe chemical handling.
  • Ability to operate equipment safely.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret manuals and rules.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and 100 pounds with assistance, and perform physical activities for extended periods.
Physical Demands

Regular standing, walking, handling objects, talking, and hearing. Frequent reaching, bending, and twisting. Occasional sitting. Ability to lift heavy objects and work in various environmental conditions.

Work Environment

Work is performed indoors and outdoors, sometimes in extreme conditions or near mechanical equipment. Protective gear may be required. Noise levels vary. The district is a drug, alcohol, and tobacco-free zone.
