Job description

The Education Pioneers Summer Fellowship provides talented graduate students an opportunity to engage with critical challenges in the education sector, address systemic inequities, and help close the opportunity gap. We recruit candidates with skills in data analysis, strategy, operations, and project management to partner with leading K-12 school districts, charter schools, and other education and place-based organizations working to improve outcomes for students and communities.

As part of our continued focus on expanding the reach and impact of the Fellowship, Fellows may have the opportunity to work with organizations that bring together schools, community organizations, government, and other partners to address complex challenges at a broader systems level. These placements can offer Fellows the opportunity to contribute to work with impact that extends beyond a single school or organization and reaches across communities and systems.

Fellows participate in a 10-week, project-based placement with a partner organization while receiving leadership development from EP alongside a cohort of peers.

High-Impact Work Experience
  • 10-week placement on a mission-critical project aligned with your professional background and skills
  • Supervision and management by an experienced leader
  • $10,000 stipend, before applicable taxes and other withholdings
Leadership Development
  • Exposure to social impact leaders who address ongoing challenges and opportunities in the education sector
  • Engage in in-person learning experiences that support leadership development in advancement of educational equity
  • Participate in communities of practice that deepen relationships and develop skills and perspectives necessary for short and long-term impact
Alumni Network
  • Build lasting professional connections with a diverse cohort of peers
  • Access to a robust, nationwide network of industry leaders and more than 4,600 EP Alumni
  • Lifelong access to the EP network for advice, connection, and career opportunities
Required Qualifications
  • Two years of full time work experience, excluding undergraduate internships OR if currently enrolled or holds a graduate degree, 1 year of professional, full-time work experience (excluding internships).
  • Commitment to Education Pioneers’ mission and values, and a passion for social impact
  • Commitment to the full program term, including the ability to complete 10 consecutive weeks of employment, attend in-person convenings, and other mandatory aspects of the Fellowship
Preferred Qualifications
  • Enrollment in or completion of graduate degree program
  • Experience in data and analysis, operations, consulting, strategy, project and program management, HR, finance, accounting, budgeting, communications and/or marketing (professional experience outside of the classroom is preferred)
  • Intermediate or Advanced skills in Excel and knowledge in Tableau, SPSS, STATA, R, or other data visualization and data management software is a plus
  • Experience in cross functional collaboration, information synthesis, stakeholder engagement, relationship management or systems thinking
  • Ability to take initiative and drive results in complex or evolving environments
  • Track record of success in academic and professional settings
  • Strong communication skills to effectively communicate with diverse audiences and stakeholders
  • Emotional intelligence, adaptability, initiative, humility, equity orientation and alignment with our mission
  • Due to the complex and timebound nature of our onboarding timelines and our limited capacity as a small nonprofit organization, candidates must be independently authorized to work in the United States for the duration of the Fellowship. The Impact Fellowship and Summer Fellowship are not eligible for employer-sponsored visas or other employer-supported immigration processes.
  • Individuals in F-1 student visa status, including those authorized to work through Optional Practical Training (OPT) or Curricular Practical Training (CPT), are not eligible for either Fellowship.
  • Candidates with other forms of U.S. work authorization—including but not limited to lawful permanent residents, DACA recipients, and individuals authorized to work through certain dependent or humanitarian immigration statuses—are eligible, provided they do not require employer sponsorship or immigration support from Education Pioneers and can timely provide acceptable documentation of employment authorization for Form I-9, as required by the Immigration Reform and Control Act.
