Job summary

Divergent is seeking motivated engineering interns for Summer 2027 in Torrance, CA. You will design, analyze, and test mechanical and structural components alongside engineers while supporting software tool development and automation workflows.

You will participate in prototyping and validation using Divergent’s DAPS workflow, including additive manufacturing and robotic assembly, and communicate findings at project end.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master’s degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Materials Science, or a related discipline.
• Must be able to work onsite in Torrance, CA for 12 weeks in Summer 2027.
• 38+ hours per week availability for 12 weeks during Summer 2027.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in CAD tools (CATIA, NX, SolidWorks) or programming (Python, C++, MATLAB) or simulation software (ANSYS, Abaqus, COMSOL).

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineers to design, analyze, and test mechanical and/or structural components.
• Support development of software tools, automation workflows, or simulation models to improve efficiency.
• Conduct research, data collection, and technical analysis to solve engineering challenges.
• Assist in prototyping and validation using the DAPS workflow, including additive manufacturing and robotic assembly.
• Document processes, results, and recommendations for stakeholders.
• Present findings and project outcomes at internship conclusion.
