OVERVIEW:
The objective of the Dining Hall Manager is to supervise the Wait Staff through daily tasks and assignments, ensuring the Dining Room is clean and operates efficiently before, during, and after all meals. The manager will ensure that the dining area is maintained, staff complete their duties, and all campers and staff are cared for during meals and snack times.
Supervise and participate in procedures during mealtimes, guiding Wait Staff, campers, and staff to ensure smooth operation.
Oversee Wait Staff in and out of the Dining Hall.
Assist with problem-solving for the Wait Staff alongside the Assistant Camp Director.
Schedule daily tasks for Wait Staff with the Food Service Manager.
Participate in meal counts for USDA at the start of each mealtime as directed by the Assistant Camp Director.
Maintain cleanliness and organization in the Staff Kitchen, including cleaning out the fridge, dishes, and counters.
Create and maintain summer decorations in the dining hall.
Participate in all evening programs, including leading camp songs and evening campfires as directed.
Organize dining room supplies, ensuring materials are used properly and returned when borrowed.
Evaluate the summer program area and suggest improvements for future seasons.
Assist with opening and closing day procedures as requested.
Report property maintenance issues to the Facilities Manager or Maintenance Crew Chief.
Engage with Cabin Leaders and campers to foster a positive camping experience aligned with The Salvation Army's goals.
Participate in the spiritual development of campers and staff.
Model Christ-like conduct and demonstrate concern and service.
Report any suspected child abuse issues immediately and take appropriate action.
Perform any other duties assigned by your supervisor.
All staff may be called upon at any time to assist in camp operations. Attendance at evening programs is expected unless excused by the Assistant Camp Director.
Must be at least 18 years old.
Demonstrate leadership with campers, teens, and staff.
Motivate and encourage the dining room crew creatively.
Work independently and with minimal supervision.
Organize, lead, and deliver devotionals to groups.
Maintain effective communication with staff.
Hold current CPR/First Aid/AED certification.
Exhibit good moral character.
Have a personal, growing relationship with the Lord.
Preferably have previous camping experience.
Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist intermittently. Ability to grasp, push, pull, and lift up to 25 lbs. Reasonable accommodations will be considered for qualified individuals with disabilities.
