Overview

The primary purpose of the Learning Zone Teaching Assistant is to lead students through homework assistance and oversee recreation and enrichment activities. The Learning Zone Teaching Assistant will also assist with transportation, assessment, and tutoring activities as needed during the academic year and Summer Camp.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Represent The Salvation Army in a manner that brings glory to God.
2. Assist in carrying out the spiritual and community mission of The Lorain Corps of The Salvation Army.
3. Assist children with summer activities.
4. Tutor children when necessary.
5. Assist and lead recreation and enrichment programs.
6. Actively supervise children.
7. Attend required in-service training.
8. Maintain attendance and snack records, and monitor supplies.
9. Supervise gym activities for children.
10. Perform other duties as assigned by the Learning Center Director.
11. Uphold and support the mission of The Salvation Army.

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

• High School Diploma.
• Prior education or child care experience preferred.

SPECIAL SKILLS, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

• Valid Ohio Driver's License and ability to drive for The Salvation Army.
• Ability to pass FBI and BCII Background Checks.
• Passion for the Mission of The Salvation Army and the Vision of the Lorain Corps.
