Summer Day Camp Counselor (May 27 - August 8)

The Park & Recreation Department of the Village of Lake Zurich is seeking candidates for the position of Summer Day Camp Counselor. Counselors are responsible for planning, leading, and implementing program activities for children in small groups. They ensure the safety, development, and skill achievement of participants, providing outdoor educational and recreational experiences in a safe, positive environment.

Position Responsibilities

1. Develop and implement weekly schedules for your camp group.
2. Organize and lead various activities, including crafts, nature explorations, songs, games, orientation nights, and swimming.
3. Address and manage camper behavior issues.
4. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the site.
5. Communicate with parents about camper experiences and report concerns to Camp Leadership.
6. Keep accurate records, including incident reports, logs, and attendance.
7. Understand and follow all emergency procedures.
8. Enforce safety guidelines and ensure campers’ safety at all times.

Special Requirements

Successful candidates must pass a background check.

Qualifications
